Giving the Needy Equal Chance to Education

Education empowers individuals to break the cycle of poverty by equipping them with valuable skills, knowledge, and opportunities for self-improvement. Without doubt, focusing on providing education and knowledge to the needy can have long-term benefits and a more sustainable impact than simply giving donations.

“Education is the great engine of personal development. It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that the son of a mineworkers can become the head of the mines, that a child of farm workers can become president of a great nation.”

We believe that every child has the right to, and deserves, an education. Irrespective of that child’s background or gender, all children should be supported to go to school and acquire the skills and qualifications necessary for a healthy and prosperous life. The education of disadvantaged children and orphans is at the core of our work.

Many barriers to education such as poverty, gender and lack of educational resources exist in the countries where we operate and prevent children from poor households from going to school. In many African countries, education even at primary school is not truly free, and is a barrier that stops many disadvantaged children and orphans from receiving an education.

Our child sponsorship programme gives children the opportunity of an education so that they can attain to their potential. Sponsorship covers school fees, cost of books, uniform and shoes and meals both at school and at home.

We are committed to supporting each child from primary school age, through secondary schools and up to higher education at university or other tertiary institutions depending on the child’s ability. It means we may be supporting a child for 14 years or more. With just £20 a month you can help to educate a child who may otherwise be forced into child labour, or early marriage and in so doing is hindered from reaching their potential in life.

By sending a child to school, it inspires others in their community to want to go to school. When girls go to school, it reduces early pregnancy and child marriage. By sponsoring a child, you don’t just help one person, but a whole community.
